The name Stacy Lee may be familiar to you from her presentation at the Healthful Aging through Lifelong Learning Conference on Saturday May 20th. where she spoke about her work with mature military veterans in Second Life. You can watch an archive of the session by clicking the image below.
Today, however, we are here to help Stacy celebrate. She is one of twenty-one women chosen to receive the *2023 CWV Women Veterans Trailblazers “Women Making the Difference” awards being presented by the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs. She is receiving her award today.
Stacy has also been recognized by Nation’s Finest, an organization dedicated to “guiding our Veterans home.” As part of its 50-year anniversary, Nation’s Finest created the “Nation’s Finest 50 Award” to recognize and celebrate 50 people who have gone above and beyond to support veterans. Stacy was selected as one of those 50 and will be in Washington DC on June 12th. to receive the award.
Although more than a little uncomfortable about all the attention she is receiving, Stacy is grateful that her work is making others aware of what is available to and how others can help veterans. “I love helping vets access resources, navigate the VA system, and find ways to become part of a larger, global community,” Stacy says. “Second Life is particularly helpful because vets can meet, create community, and enjoy activities that they might not have access to otherwise in physical reality.”
Stacy and her team are currently working on ways to help veterans and their families record and share their stories. To learn more, visit the EchoVets website: https://www.echovets.org/ or the EchoVets Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/EchoGroup805
Congratulations Stacy! Both awards are well-deserved.
